, a regular autobiographical comic of their existence as he transitions. Kirsty Webeck caught up with him to talk about his work.

KW: you are the mastermind behind Rooster Tails webcomic, tell us about it!

SO: Rooster Tails is an autobiographical webcomic about myself and my personal lover, and our cat. It basically came to exist because I was seeking depictions of queer and trans people that failed to scandalise all of us, or have actually us passing away or killing people – and, unfortunately, there’s interestingly few examples of that in popular television and flicks.

Therefore, because I am not rich adequate to create my own TV show or film, and do not have enough buddies i really could encourage to act, I decided to-draw comics about all of us, because we can.. kinda.. draw alright.

Its a comical which has been choosing five years today, and revisions (largely) once weekly, and, yeah, it is more about celebrating life and queerness and transness – and all sorts of the great things like that! It really is kind of a combo of a narcissistic “hey! check me personally!” job, and an educational-ish “hey! difference is a good thing!” task. Me and my spouse tend to be both trans, but have very various ways of going about any of it, and various gender material taking place, so we’re in addition pretty nerdy and weird – generally there’s constantly a great amount of what to draw in regards to.

KW: who’re the target people and just why?

therefore: I at first began getting the comics on the web not really understanding who would review them – I figured if I provided them openly it might push us to keep upgrading frequently. I thought it’d nearly be (my personal spouse) Joe – because I would push them to view it. I’m truthfully truly astonished concerning the depth of people that read it – it is a complete mix of trans folk, cisgender folk, queer folks, straight men and women, moms and dads, young ones, a genuine mix. In my opinion We probably do it typically for people anything like me, people who want to see good representations of trans people, and nerdy queers, but I do believe a lot of non-queer and cis people see clearly as well, that is really cool.

KW: What or exactly who encourages you?
